Airport- Benito Juarez By international standards this is a rather small airport and it can get very crowded. On arrival we came through an area of the Airport that was waiting to load a large group of passengers, so you can imagine that there was a small degree of pushing and shoving to get through. Collecting luggage and passing through customs is pretty much like any other country. After passing customs I highly recommend that you approach a Taxi office to book a taxi (if you need one). This is because there are a number of rather unscrupulous characters ready to take you to your hotel at questionable prices. The government authorised taxis are reliable, cheap and safe. You can purchase a taxi ticket in one of the many stalls located within the airport. The attendant will ask you for your destination and provide you with a receipt indicating the fare value of your trip (after payment has been made). Outside the airport you can provide the taxi attendant with the ticket and inform him/ her where you wish to go. The attendant will ensure that you are placed on the next available taxi. Mexico is a large, bustling city full of history, religion and culture. It would take me far more than you care to read to describe the amount of things that can be done in this incredible city. I would also not bother about arranging bookings for tours before going to Mexico as it is much cheaper to organise tours in Mexico. You can do this directly from the hotel or place of accommodation where you will be staying. People in Mexico are very friendly and willing to help you in this regard. There is also an abundance of tour operators running trips to most tourist destinations. I will however point out
some of the more important highlights of Mexico City. I
strongly suggest you also visit many of the restaurants in
Mexico city where you can get some culinary appreciation of
Mexico. Places of Interest: Museum of Anthropology:- An incredible museum to visit. Exhibits a huge collection of indigenous art, architecture and insight into the manner in which the indigenous peoples of pre-Spanish era lived. Plaza de la Constitución (El
Zócalo):- Perhaps the central hub of Mexico City. The
presidential palace is located here. An Aztec ceremonial
centre, The metropolitan cathedral. There are some nice
jewellery shops were you can pick up some nice bargains.
